You can install openmediavault on a Debian installation as well.

OpenMediaVault Admin Login. After logging in to OpenMediaVault admin panel, navigate to Storage - RAID Management and hit on Create button to start assemble your system RAID array. Enter a name for your RAID device, choose RAID level 6, select all disk devices and hit on Create button to create the array, as illustrated in the below. Insert the boot Media that you prepared for the installation into the PC or Server were OpenMediaVault shall be installed and start or reboot the system. It might be necessary to select the correct boot media device in the BIOS. When the System booted successfully you will see the following screen of the OpenMediaVault installer.

To do so, on x86 simply install the system using the Debian netinst images. After that apply the commands below.Please do not install a graphical environment, use a minimal serverinstallation only. For a step by step install guide have a look into theDebian minimal install guide.

On ARM devices check if there’s an appropriate ArmbianBuster (Debian 10) image available. After installing Armbian then use thearmbian-config tool to install OMV in a single step with all performance and reliabilitytweaks included. If there’s no Armbian for your device simply follow the steps outlinedbelow.
